Walking in a winter wonderland....

So I phoned/emailed a few people this weekend from home and discovered that it has snowing like crazy! Of course, snow in my hometown was not such a surprise as it snows every year there. Some years more than others but certainly every year. The surprise came when I talked to a few of our friends from the lower mainland. Now, its not like it NEVER snows in Vancouver, but its a once every few years kind of thing and its usually just a dusting on the ground that melts as it lands. This year it decided to just dump a load of it on the city. I'm sure that chaos ensued. Vancouver drivers wouldn't know how to drive on the white stuff if you paid them a million dollars. The whole city practically shuts down at times like these. So, our friends Tim and Tara - picture below - sent me some great shots of the shivery cold white stuff. Quote from Tara 'It's &@(#$ cold'.

A typical Vancouver street.

This flower was sure surprised. Geez, it was like FINE yesterday!

Wow, look at all that snow!

I think this might be T and T's new place? Let me know if it is!

This scene is very similar to Seattle and surrounding areas. My boss got stuck on the highway for like 3 hours and then had to stay in a hotel because her car ran out of gas. It was madness, lots of things shut down here. The inner city itself isn't bad though. Thursday we are due for more snow...and I have to move this weekend!!!

Hmmm, all I have to say is 頑張ってね!

Its funny how everything just shuts down. I bet it took a whole day just for them to get some snowplows into the city.

Freaky weather.

That fourth picture
looks like proper fairyland stuff

Wonder if the flower made it thru the day, or the ice & snow burnt it away?

Yes, this is our new townhouse. The first few pictures were from Sunday, then the night ones from Monday night. It's been down to -19 with the wind chill the last couple days so the snow has stuck.

We are supposed to get upto another 6 inches today.

I'll give a status update on the flower if the snow ever melts, that flower is under a good 6" of ice now.

You know what's crappy, schools in Vancouver had a snow day and they were all closed BUT in the Okanagan, we had more snow then them and we still have to go to school. Seriously, I think I should live in Vancouver so I can whine about snow and get away with it...

Yes well, when you don't have plows to remove it, everything must shut down. I bet the school kids in Vancouver were ecstatic. They never get snow days - the y were probably trying to make snow forts with the little snow they had :)
