Autumn in Japan

When I was first told about japanese autumns, I thought it was just a huge wind-up. They really weren't kidding, the colours here are amazing! With this in mind I decided a little adventure to Arashiyama, Kyoto was in order.

Enjoy the red.

Beautiful colours. Those leaves would give the Fall ones here in Eastern Ontario a run for thier money.

A suggestion from Oka at work. He said the ones in Nara are even nicer :) He suggested going to Todaiji or one of those places to check out the autumn leaves there too!

Well, I would suggest Tohoku...especially in Yamadera. It's so wonderful. You take a train through the valley and then once you climb to the top of the mountain temple, the view is all the reward you need. The coolest part is, it's truly a hidden gem of Japan. If you don't believe me, ask Basho, he wrote about it.

I think I'll go there this weekend.

My Flickr account is getting pounded with the hits from the rest of these pictures.

Only a few week left until all the leaves are gone...
